Ally's POV
The world blurs into streaks of grey and green as I run, Elliot's laboured breathing just behind me. My heart thrashes against my ribs, each beat echoing the thunder of paws on the forest floor. Nathan's snarl still rings in my ears encouraging me to run faster.
"Here," Elliot gasps, veering sharply to the left. His arm catches mine, guiding me toward an outcrop of rock. We stumble into the shadow of a small cave, hidden away by the embrace of ancient trees and hanging moss.
Even in the dim light, I can see the grimace of pain that takes over his usually calm face. Blood seeps through his torn shirt- a stark contrast against his pale skin. The scent of iron fills the air, mingling with the damp earth.
"Elliot," I breathe out, the weight of concern pressing down on my chest.
"Shh," he hushes me, his voice laced with strain. "We can't risk- "
