CHAPTER 51

Ethan eventually came back to pick Everly up, the fact that Leo reached out to him to come and take her back home instead of the initial plan which was him driving her back home himself, and the fact that Everly was just staring blankly out of the window with a pale expression and traces of dried up tears on her face was enough reason for Ethan to know the dinner did not go well.

He wasn't surprised about it because he knew Leo's proposal wouldn’t sit well with Everly, who busied herself with the thought of the dinner being an avenue to spark up a love life. But he wasn’t expecting it to be as bad as it seems.

The drive home was quiet except for the muffled sound of Everly’s sob tearing through the silent sheet that the car was wrapped in at intervals. He knew it wasn't the right time to strike up any form of conversation with her, be it the issue between them or any type of conversation to cheer her up, so he didn't bother saying anything.
