CHAPTER 39

Their ride back home was a smooth one, with Ethan piloting the car and wheeling the steering in a professional way, and Leo strapped out the back seat with his seatbelt, making a series of calls.

Aside from the unending calls that kept on bombarding Leo's phone, their drive back home was quiet and peaceful although Ethan's mind couldn't let go of what transpired between him and Everly.

He was already trying to think of the best way and manner in which he can approach her to tell her how sorry he was and how he didn't mean to label her a gold digger despite the fact that he was there from the onset when she got entangled with Leo, knowing everything in detail.

No matter how he tried distracting himself from the thoughts of Everly with other stressful things that had happened in work today, his mind couldn't turn it off, making him come to a solid conclusion of apologizing to Everly so guilt will stop gnawing at his soul, threatening to consume him.
