CHAPTER 9 The Most Beautiful Words

  "Why are you here, Mr. Bezos?" Hazel stared and wrapped herself in the blanket within reach. Her actions seemed to confirm that Flynn was indeed up to no good, and Hazel was trying to protect herself.

  "D-do you think I can't show up anywhere in my own house?" Flynn surprised by Hazel's cautiousness. He felt guilty, even though he was just standing at the doorway and had not entered the room.

  Esme forgot to close the door, and Flynn was curious about the giggles coming from Hazel's room.

  The main building—where Hazel was—was not as warm as this room, not since last Christmas when her mother's side of the family gathered to celebrate.

  The main building was usually silent and... Gloomy! Without special guests, the rooms on the second floor would always be empty, and silence would dominate the atmosphere.

  "But this is my room now!"

  "At least act like you should!"

  "How should I act?"
