CHAPTER 43 A Little Surprise

Flynn had overslept and missed Verona's hearing. However, he managed to get to the courthouse just in time to meet Gillian.

"So?" Flynn asked as Gillian emerged from the courtroom.

"Medium sentence. We knew this was Verona's first offense," Gillian said, signaling his associate to handle the paperwork with the opposing counsel.

  "How long?"

  "15 years, with a $10,000 fine."

"Not bad. Did you handle it?" Flynn took off his sunglasses, revealing a pair of sharp, discerning eyes. This time, he could see Gillian's face more clearly. Gillian looked exhausted, either from the intense trial or a recent argument with Jules.

"Yes. I already told her lawyer that WE would pay the fine. Phew! You have the strangest clients," Gillian nudged his friend's ribs playfully. But that was just Flynn. He was kind-hearted, especially when it came to thoughts of Patty. Besides, Hazel was fine. There was nothing to worry about.
