Ethan's Pov
"You lied about your name! Are you stupid?" Fang angrily questions in my mind. "The moment was perfect for you to tell the truth, reveal you are the king. Why did you lie, Ethan?"
I ignore my wolf's questions as I cut through the trees, hearing the howls of the participating she-wolves. The scent of each one fills my nostrils, but none of them is the delicious scent of Anastasia. Her scent still clings to the guard's clothes I'm wearing, and I take a deep breath to continue savoring her aroma. Shadows dance under the faint moonlight, creating ghostly figures around me. The dry leaves under my feet echo in the forest.
The night is full of sounds that could easily distract me, like the rustling of leaves in the wind, and the distant murmurs of nocturnal animals. That's why I need to be extra careful when returning to the palace. My interruption in this trial could lead to a great injustice in the end. I shouldn't have interfered, it was wrong. Very wrong.
