Alexander's POV
I thought the worst moment of my life had been when Nicola sat me down and told me that "Ava" wasn't Ava at all. That Evelyn Moore, a woman with a striking resemblance to my first love, had been paid to pretend to be her. The shock, the betrayal, the anger – it had been a rotation of emotions that had nearly consumed me. But that had been before I woke up in the hospital with all my memories flooding back.
Now, as I watched Evie stand there, her eyes wide and filled with a mixture of fear and regret, I realized that this was actually the worst moment. The woman who had become my everything, my solace in a world of pain, was admitting the truth – a truth I'd already finally been able to understand thanks to my rekindled memories. And she was leaving.
"Evie..." I started, my voice barely a whisper, but stopped short, unable to even call her by her real name.
