The man quickly released me, albeit with evident hesitation. I couldn't believe that someone would still put me in danger, especially during such a perilous game. I had joined the competition to showcase my abilities to Ethan and prove myself against Andrew, though I hadn't yet seen him.
"Calm down..." The hunter muttered as he hurried away, evidently intent on continuing with his plan. I took a moment to stretch my body, trying to shake off the lingering tension.
"Are you okay?" Ethan's voice cut through the stillness of the forest. I couldn't discern his intentions, but at that moment, it didn't matter.
"I'm fine," I whispered, exhaling a sigh of relief as the adrenaline began to ebb away.
"We should part ways now. You weren't allowed to intervene like that," I said firmly, running my fingers through my hair in an attempt to hide my awkwardness.
He shrugged nonchalantly. "He could have hurt you,"
