  "No," I stammered, struggling to find the right words to comfort her. "He doesn't dislike Autumn, he's just... trying to manipulate the situation. I don't know why..." I explained, my voice trembling as I tried to make sense of it all.

  "Do you think I'm capable of hurting her?" Maya's voice trembled, her mouth quivering with emotion. I shook my head without hesitation.

  "No," I reassured her, gently brushing her tears away. "Why would I ever think that?" I asked softly, my heart breaking at the sight of her pain.

  "Because that's what your father believes," she sobbed, her gaze fixed on the ground. "You know how scared I was when Autumn attacked me during the Pack Games, and I couldn't do anything despite my fear," she confessed, her voice laced with pain.
