  I stood face to face with Jared, who seemed torn as if struggling to voice something of importance.

  "You need to tell me now," I pressed, my tone firm. He clasped his hands around his chest, a nervous gesture.

  "You don't understand how much the Alpha has been affected by your choice," he whispered, his words hitting me like a sudden rush. My heart quickened its pace, caught off guard by his revelation. I stared at him, my expression unreadable, unsure of how to respond in the face of such gravity.
