Autumn
"She was the girl whom Ethan had promised to marry. He was so young and thought she was the kindest girl he had ever met. Ethan needed the attention of a woman like his mother, but he never received that," he took a deep breath and continued, "Jairalyn was so kind that it made him feel like they were soulmates. But I actually liked her first, and she did like me back, so we got together, like puppy lovers," he continued. He spoke as if he missed everything, and I listened as though I were intruding.
I wasn't jealous or anything. I knew Jaira didn't have any romantic feelings for Ethan, but I couldn't help but be curious about a lot of things at that moment.
"Really?" I whispered. "Then why did Ethan say he forgot her face?"
He shrugged. "That's not it," he said. "I know he remembers Jaira as the kind girl. What he doesn't remember is that his younger self misunderstood the concept of soulmates and marriage," he added.
