Derek's POV.
And then, what I saw made me freeze. Elena was sitting in front of me, with two empty bottles beside her, and she was gulping the third bottle like it was water. My heart sank, my instincts screaming at me to go to her, to protect her.
But I hesitated, unsure of what to do. She looked up, her eyes locking on mine, and for a moment, we just stared at each other. I could see the pain and despair in her eyes, and my heart broke.
"Elena," I said, my voice barely above a whisper, and she looked away, her eyes welling up with tears.
I walked up to her and dragged the bottle away, "Give me that," I yelled, but she dragged it back from my hands, some of the liquid pouring onto the ground.
"Give me back my bottle," she pouted, her eyes flashing with anger.
"No, Elena, you're not in your right senses," I said, trying to get her up, but she refused.
