Elena's POV.
"Elena," I heard my name from behind, and I knew that voice too well. Even in my dreams, I would recognize it. I stopped and turned around to see him, Adam, standing in front of me. Mercy's grip on me tightened.
"Don't worry," I whispered. "You can go. I will join you later," I added.
Are you sure?" she asked, and I chuckled.
"I have gotten my powers," I said, and she nodded. With that, she walked away, leaving me and Adam, who was now rubbing the back of his neck.
"Hey," he said.
"Hi," I replied, and then there was an awkward silence.
We stood there, looking at each other, unsure of what to say. The tension between us was palpable, and I could feel my heart racing.
Adam broke the silence. "Elena, we need to talk."
I raised an eyebrow. "What is there to talk about, Adam?" I asked, my voice firm.
He sighed. "About us, about what happened."
I crossed my arms. "There's nothing to talk about, Adam. You made your choice clear."
