Elena's POV.
I leaned my head against Derek's shoulder, feeling a sense of despair wash over me. We were trapped, and I had no idea how to escape. I couldn't help but feel guilty for dragging Marrok into this dangerous situation.
If only I had known, I would have come alone.
I wondered what was going through his head. I let out a weary sigh and closed my eyes.
"I'm coming," Derek said, his voice low and determined.
I opened my eyes to see him standing by the door, his hands clasped behind his back, his gaze fixed on it as if willing it to open. I approached him, curiosity getting the better of me.
"What's up?" I asked, and he shrugged, his eyes scanning the room for an escape route.
"Looking for a way out of this mess," he muttered, his hand rubbing his jaw in frustration. I leaned against the wall, understanding his plight.
"You don't have any trusted guards who could help us, do you?" I asked, and he shook his head, his eyes clouding with disappointment.
