Elena's POV.
I tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep despite my best efforts. Frustration boiled over, and I let out a hissed sigh. I reached for my phone, hoping to see a message or call from him, but there was nothing.
It was as if he had erected a wall around himself, shutting me out. I could feel the weight of his sorrow, like a palpable force field surrounding him.
It was a heavy, suffocating energy that seemed to vibrate through the air, making my own chest feel tight and constricted. I could sense the depth of his pain, like a dark, bottomless well that seemed to be pulling him down, down, down.
I longed to reach out and comfort him, to tell him that everything would be okay, but he had blocked me out, leaving me feeling helpless and frustrated.
I gazed up to see Mercy still fixated on me, her expression empathetic. She moved closer, sat beside me, and grasped my hands firmly.
