CHAPTER 82: Makes No Sense

  Gabriel's POV

My ears were probably playing tricks on me because I thought I heard Blair say she was rejecting me, and I burst out laughing.

"I'm sorry, I just thought I heard you say you're rejecting me," I said, rubbing her arm. But she wasn't laughing, and my smile slowly faded as realization set in.

"You can't be serious," I muttered, and she blinked a few times to ward off the tears that I could see gathering in her already swollen eyes.

"I need you to understand that I really appreciate everything you've done for me, and I would definitely go out of my way to repay you. But right now, I have to make decisions that are best for me," she said. I scoffed as I rubbed my temples and paced around a bit.

"You really can't be serious, Blair. To be very honest, you're clearly joking!" I said, chuckling. But once again, she wasn't laughing, and this time, I knew this wasn't a prank at all.
