CHAPTER 14 The Auction 

  Travis drummed his fingers on the mahogany desk, the soft glow of his laptop illuminating the intensity in his blue eyes. The email from Camila was concise- a collection of documents and figures, critical intelligence that could swing the upcoming auction in his favour.

  "Travis, any thoughts?" His assistant peered over the screen with a tentative look.

  "Camila's information is solid," Travis said, not masking the slight upturn at the corner of his mouth. "She's done her homework."

  "Enough to outmaneuver Blake?"

  "Watch me." Travis's voice carried the subtle hint of a challenge. He stood, straightening his tailored suit jacket as he prepared for the battle ahead.

  The auction room was abuzz with anticipation, a hive of suits and calculated smiles. Travis's gaze locked onto Blake, who leaned back in his chair, oozing arrogance from every pore.

  "Starting at two million," the auctioneer announced, his gavel poised.
