CHAPTER 87 Destroy Him

  The ringing of the phone was like a herald of doom. Maddox Martine's hand was unsteady as he lifted the receiver, his heart already quickening with a dreadful premonition.

  "Mr. Martine," the voice on the other end belonged to Doctor Benson, the one who had treated his late wife. "I thought it prudent to inform you..."

  "Out with it, man," Maddox demanded, his words clipped with impatience and an underlying tremor of fear.

  "Travis Turner was here asking questions about your wife's death," the doctor confessed, his voice low and tinged with unease. "He's digging, Maddox. And from what I understand, he's not alone. Camila is with him."

  "Camila?" The name struck him like a physical blow, his daughter intertwined with the man trying to unravel his darkest secret. He felt the walls closing in, the very foundation of his meticulously constructed life starting to crumble.

  "Are you certain?" His voice was a growl now, the beast of panic clawing its way up his throat.
