  The wind teased Camila's long, dark hair as she and Travis ambled through the sun-dappled park, her laughter mingling with the rustle of leaves. The joy that bubbled up within her was a bright, effervescent thing- a feeling she hadn't embraced in what felt like lifetimes.

  "Travis, look!" Camila squealed with childlike excitement, pointing at a group of children chasing each other around a cluster of balloons. Her deep brown eyes sparkled as she tugged on his arm, pulling him towards a vendor selling cotton candy. "Can we get some? Please?"

  Travis chuckled, his blue eyes crinkling at the corners. "I don't think I've ever seen you this excited over spun sugar."

  "It's not just the cotton candy," Camila admitted, accepting the pastel fluff on a stick handed to her by the vendor. "It's everything today- it reminds me of my birthdays when I was little, with my mom." She took a bite, the sweetness dissolving on her tongue as memories swirled inside her.
