Camila's fingers flew over her laptop keyboard, a frown creasing her brow as she read the latest financial news. Numbers on the screen showed a stark decline in the stock value of Travis's company. Her heart sank.
"Another bad day at the market?" Travis asked, entering the room with two mugs of coffee in his hands.
"Isn't it obvious?" Camila replied with a forced chuckle, accepting the mug from him. "Your stocks are taking quite a hit. Any idea what's causing the sudden drop?"
Travis leaned against the desk, his blue eyes scanning the numbers. "I have my suspicions," he said, his voice calm but tinged with a note of concern. "Competitors playing dirty, perhaps."
"Or something closer to home," Camila murmured under her breath, feeling the weight of guilt heavy on her shoulders.
"What was that?"
"Nothing." She quickly masked her worry with a sip of coffee. "Just thinking out loud."
