John and Isabelle finally get home and pull off the driveway, the soft hum of the engine fading as John turns off the car. The sun hung low in the sky, casting a glow over the front of their house. Isabelle took a deep breath, the cool evening air brushing against her skin as she stepped out of the car. She looked around, appreciating the stillness for a moment, the kind of quiet that hinted at an approaching storm.
John followed, closing the door with a heavy thud. He stretched his back and gave her a tired smile.
"Home at last," he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck.
Isabelle smiled softly in return, but before she could respond, the low growl of an engine behind them caught her attention. She turned, squinting against the headlights of a car pulling into the driveway. As the vehicle came to a stop, she took a closer look and she saw Emily seated with Jack at the front seat.
