No! He must stay awake!
Ricard shook his head, trying to keep himself alert. He held Emma's shoulders firmly, his hands steady but not too strong—just enough to keep her steady on her wobbling legs. He bent down, his sharp eyes staring directly into hers, showing no sign of softening. "I don't care about you, Emma," he said, his tone cold and resolute. "I'm just doing what any man should do for a woman in this situation."
Emma blinked, her eyes still holding that captivating charm. She opened her mouth to say something, but Ricard cut her off, his voice even firmer. "If you won't listen, then I'll leave you. I'm going home."
With that, Ricard released her and turned away.
