CHAPTER 144: Medical Knowledge

Emma knelt beside Mr. Anderson, quickly opening his airway by gently tilting his head back. She checked again for any signs of breathing, but there were none. She knew every second mattered. Emma placed her hands on Mr. Anderson's chest, right on his sternum, preparing to administer CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).

"Everyone back off!" she commanded, her voice firm with authority.

She began chest compressions. With her hands stacked on top of each other and her arms straight, she pressed down on his chest with steady force, at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute. "One, two, three, four..." She counted each compression, pushing down with enough force to depress his chest about 5-6 centimeters, ensuring enough pressure to keep blood circulating through his heart.
