CHAPTER 31: The Bargain

  Christian’s POV

The tension between us thickened as Lyla's eyes narrowed in suspicion, trying to gauge if I was being genuine. But curiosity and her desperation to redeem herself after today’s crushing loss made her hesitate long enough for me to seize the moment.

“Out with it, Lyla,” I said smoothly. “Tell me what you know about Hannah’s divorce, and in exchange, I’ll give you a strategy that could help you win against even the toughest opponents.”

She let out a short, humorless laugh. “And why would I believe you? What’s in it for you?”

“I’ve got my reasons, but let’s just say I’m interested in knowing what went down between Hannah and Michael. You and I both know that if you’re holding onto that kind of information, it could be valuable. I’m offering you something in return.” I leaned in slightly, lowering my voice. “You want to win, right? Here’s your shot. This is a good bargain, trust me.”
