CHAPTER 42: An Unexpected Confession

  Hannah’s POV

The night was quiet as Joseph and I supported Christian down the dimly lit hallway. Aubrey was a little bit drunk and she was walking slowly looking around.

The soft glow of the wall sconces cast long shadows, and the cool air outside provided a sharp contrast to the warm, buzzing atmosphere of the bar we’d left some time ago.

The silence between us was thick, punctuated only by the sound of our footsteps and Christian's occasional incoherent mumbling.

“He’s really out of it,” I murmured, glancing at Joseph.

Joseph nodded, his expression serious. “Yeah, I’ve never seen him like this before. He’s usually the one keeping everyone else in line. I will not lie to you, but I have never seen him drunk. He never drinks so much that he loses his senses. I am also shocked.”
