CHAPTER 45: The Moment of Truth

  Christian’s POV

The world spun around me, a chaotic blur of hazy lights and muffled sounds. I knew I’d had too much to drink, but I couldn’t seem to stop myself. The tension, the frustration of the past few days had finally caught up to me, and in a moment of weakness, I sought refuge in the bottle.

But now, lying on Hannah’s bed, I regret it.

Joseph’s words echoed in my mind, clear and sharp despite the fog of alcohol. He’d revealed everything, my feelings, my long-standing affection for Hannah.

I wanted to shut him up, to tell him it wasn’t his place to speak for me, but I couldn’t find the strength. So, I let him continue, hoping against hope that Hannah wouldn’t react as coldly as she had been toward me lately.

But she hadn’t said a word. Not a single word or action from her side. She is drowned in some thoughts that I want to read so much.

I was too drunk to fully comprehend what was happening, but I could feel the shift in the air.
