CHAPTER 64: The Conversation

  Hannah's POV

The victory in the courtroom still buzzed in my veins as I left the courthouse, but the adrenaline rush had begun to fade. The weight of the day, being kidnapped, the fear, and finally winning the case, was catching up to me. Yet, more than anything, it was Christian's quiet presence that weighed on my mind.

He stood by his car, waiting for me to come out of the courtroom, I saw his expression unreadable. Normally, Christian was calm and steady, the kind of person whose presence could ground me in any storm.

But today, there was something in his eyes, a heaviness, a worry that I hadn't seen before. I walked toward him, offering a tired smile. "You know, Christian, you make quite the knight in shining armor."

He didn't laugh or smile, his face remaining stoic as he opened the car door for me. "Let's get you home, Hannah."
