Leila's POV
I pulled my face away from the plate and looked up at him. "It's going to be hard, but I'll try my best."
Dominic nodded, and the seriousness of the eyes replied, "I get you. This is meant for you to relax and forget about anything that might be bothering you."
"Thank you," I whispered. "Incredibly, that does mean a lot to me."
The rest of dinner passed in a merry haze of talk and laughter. Dominic was very engaging, and his stories and anecdotes caught at my interest. I must have laughed a lot more than I had in many days; through his company, the weight of my cares was lightened, at least for the time being.
His gaze was lingering, getting me nervous. The night wore on, and it couldn't be denied in a deeper sense, there was something special about us tonight. Dominic was being delicate in his motions and long in his gazes.
