CHAPTER 102 Hidden Agenda

  Jocelyn's POV

"Daddy, I don't know how much I can take." My voice shook and I sagged back against the back of the sleek black car. My father had turned and eyed me through the rear view mirror, his eyebrows etched with concern.

"I know, baby," he soothed. "I'm so sorry about Dominic. I can only imagine how hard this has to be for you."

  "He'll pull through, won't he?" I asked.

My dad huffed, his knuckles white on the wheel. "He's a fighter, Jocelyn. If anyone can pull through this, it's Dominic."

A thousand-pound weight in my chest. If only he knew what I'd done to put Dominic in that bed...

"I only… I wish I might have been able to do more," I finally manage to get out, my voice too quickly betrayed by the weight so it cracks.

"You did what you could. You stood by him, and you're standing by him now. That counts for more than anything," he said.
