  I pulled back, my breath ragged, staring down at Eliza. Her chest heaved as she blinked up at me, her eyes dark and wide, lips swollen from the intensity of our kiss. Her fingers were still fisted in my shirt, holding on like she was afraid I might slip away—but I wasn't going anywhere. Not now. Not ever.

  She was mine.

  I smirked at the thought, brushing a thumb over her flushed cheek. "You're breathless," I murmured, my voice a low growl. "Could it be because of me?"

  Eliza's lips parted, her breathing still shaky. She didn't respond, her body speaking louder than words ever could. The need in her gaze matched my own.

  Just as I was about to lean down to claim her lips again, the sharp, unmistakable sound of a phone vibrating broke the silence. Eliza flinched, her eyes darting to the source of the noise. My jaw clenched, irritation boiling under my skin. I didn't want anything or anyone breaking the tension between us, not now.
