Cavin's pov
The steady rhythm of my workday screeched to a halt when my phone buzzed on the desk. Adam's name lit up on the screen, and I stared at it for a moment, the weight of his unexpected call immediately setting me on edge. It wasn't just any call—it was Adam, Natalie's father and, more critically, my soon-to-be business partner. I sighed, picking up the call.
"Adam," I greeted, keeping my tone neutral. "Everything alright?"
Silence lingered just long enough to make me uneasy. "Cavin," he replied, his voice laced with formality. "It's good to catch you on a free moment. I have a few concerns."
"Of course," I replied, sensing where this might go. Adam wasn't the type to skirt around matters.
"Well, Natalie was…let's say, a bit agitated last night," he began, and I could almost hear the tension underlining his words. "I couldn't help but wonder if everything's truly fine between you two?"
