CHAPTER 52 Nikolai's warning

  Eliza's POV

The moment Cavin left, I could feel the space around me shift, like the warmth he'd left lingering in the room was already fading. The silence of the house felt unusually sharp as I wandered through, replaying the memory of his touch, his roughness, his sweetness from this morning. It was like something out of a dream I didn't want to wake up from.

But even in that dreamy haze, a shadow of unease lingered. Cavin's expression had hardened when he mentioned Adam. I knew there were parts of his world that he kept hidden from me, darker parts that seemed to hang around him like clouds he couldn't shake. It bothered me, knowing that he was walking into some kind of trouble, and I had no idea what it involved or how I could help. I sighed, telling myself he would be back soon, that everything would be fine.
