  I couldn't answer her when she asked what happened. I was relieved actually when I learned she didn't remember, but she will soon. 

  "She will remember when the sedative wears off," Doctor Lewis said. I stood next to my mate, gently caressing her silk hair. It was longer now, and she was skinnier in a matter of days. 

  "I know," I admitted. I was delaying it. I sighed. My mate didn't wake up again after that. I stayed with her and slept next to her. Early in the morning, I bought marigold flowers for her and left them on the table as I went home to grab a change of clothes along with hers. 

  I couldn't walk two steps without being asked how she was. People loved her so much.
