I whisper, too afraid to say it out loud. As soon as I say it, it’s out there and I can’t ever take it back.
“I don’t understand what that means?”
He asks dropping his hands, I take a calming breath
“Well my father— he- he um—“
He clenches his fists together, his face falling, the look made me pause, afraid to say anymore
“He did that to you?”
Water pools in my eyes as I look up at him, my body stiff, afraid of his reaction. What if he rejects me?
Instead of answering I nod, dropping my eyes. At least if he rejects me I won’t see his face. I didn’t want that image in my head.
“How many times did he—-“
I watch as his fists clenched and unclench, tears slowly start to run down my cheek as I shrug.
“Don’t know. Normally I block it out”
His growl rings around the room, my body going stiff as the feral noise sends a chill down my spine. My body trembling at the feral sound.
