CHAPTER Thirty-Six Confrontations

  Catarina’s POV

I can't believe he is here, in the castle. He made a great effort to get in here, dressed as if he were one of the workers.

My heart pounds as I confront David, my ex-beta, who stands before me with chilling confidence. His words hang heavy in the air, suffocating me with their implications. I clutch my twins tighter to my side as if they could shield me from the danger that looms ominously in front of us.

“Madam, I am so sorry. I had no idea who he was. He said he was here to deliver something.” Mindy tried to explain, but David told her to be quiet, or he would end her life.

The dim light casts shadows across David's face, accentuating his sinister smirk. His eyes gleam with a mixture of malice and triumph, reflected in the polished surface of the gun he shamelessly displays. Its metallic sheen sends a shiver down my spine, the sight a stark reminder of the threat that hangs over us like a dark cloud.
