Ela's bail was denied three times, but when the result of the test came back, showing she had an excess amount of lead and solvent in her system, as well as melatonin, she was released to us. Jean had convinced the judge that there was more to this than we knew; he referenced Ela's state of mind in all of this and a few other reasons that, though Ela was the prime suspect, there might be more. She spent a total of three days in jail before being released, and I was the happiest to have her leave with me.
