He stared at me, and the coldness in his eyes mirrored the one his mother always had for me. "That was my greatest mistake." I felt cold. 
Once Imela believed love was enough, now not anymore. Love was just another lie that the weak believed in to keep them from seeing the truth: that there was no place for people like them in this world.

　　Ela's bail was denied three times, but when the result of the test came back, showing she had an excess amount of lead and solvent in her system, as well as melatonin, she was released to us. Jean had convinced the judge that there was more to this than we knew; he referenced Ela's state of mind in all of this and a few other reasons that, though Ela was the prime suspect, there might be more. She spent a total of three days in jail before being released, and I was the happiest to have her leave with me. 


　　Marcel and her friends were all waiting to welcome her back, and even though there were people outside the station rioting against the bail, they could do so much.
