CHAPTER 11 Testing a new home 2

  The morning I was still asleep not realizing it was daylight. I was awakened by a sharp sound behind the door. I jumped up and ran to the stairs scenting it was another wolf outside.

  Madison had heard the sound and came downstairs. I ran past her upstairs and stood at the corner of the stairs, so that no one could see me, frightened.

  "It's okay, it's probably someone from the pack visiting me," said Madison softly.

  My head slowly peeped at her from the corner of the stairs.

  She smiled at me and reassured me that everything was going to be okay. She then went to open the door. As she did I quickly hid back in the corner of the stairs, seeing who it was here to see her.

  It was the first wolf I had met the day I left the depth of the forest to hunt for a meal. He was the one who caught me and the one who knocked me out and made me unconscious. I remembered his name. I'll never forget it. His name was Alaric.

  "Alaric, what are you doing here?" asked Madison curiously.
