"Rain, Rain," I heard Madison call.
I looked at her sitting opposite me around the dining table.
"Didn't you want fry sausage as well for your dinner since you love it?" she asked
I gazed at her with a heavy pain in my heart. I wanted to be mad at her for burning the book that was the closest thing I had about my pack and learn about them but she destroyed it because my mom and her ex, my dad had fallen in love. I couldn't express my anger to her, she would be suspicious of my reaction to that book and my secret could be out in the open.
"Rain, Rain," Madison again called seeing I wasn't answering her.
"Fry sausage is fine," I finally retorted and took a bite at the sausage.
Madison smiled at me and continued to eat.
Dinner was through, she took the dishes and went into the kitchen.
I went upstairs and lay in bed.
I was crushed the book was no more and my only hope of learning about my kind was gone. Every page was consumed by the fire.
