"I have no evidence to back up my claims—I can't discuss this any further, damn it."
I thought this as I clenched my teeth. Teal is so dear to me. I know she'd be happy to marry my brother Peter, but I can't force her into something she doesn't want. After all, the heart loves whomever it wishes, regardless of one's character or circumstances.
"Don't worry about me. My heart was once shattered by Steven—I even believed that love and I were on entirely different paths—but Alexander…"
Teal covered her face with her hands in embarrassment. Her rosy cheeks and that shy, enchanting smile betrayed her. "You've fallen in love with him," she declared in astonishment.
I marveled silently, thinking, *Oh my God, I wish Edward and Max's chatter would turn out to be empty words—and that Teal would keep smiling like this. Even though it worries me, her happiness is my top priority.*
