gravity sfx and faint wind in the backgroundI was starting to snap out of my trance of 'Pure Anger' as I stared at the "Divinity" before me. What the hell was a "Divinity"? I was going to find out the hard way, I guess. Can't lie, though—Cathy looked cute like this.I would find out... with time. But in the present,
Cathy lunged at
Keito Nakamura as she hovered through the air. She tried to punch him, but her attacks wouldn't connect.
Keito just popped a bubble in front of her to knock her away.
Cathy Ariston:
"What did you do to me?! I can't—"She uncrossed her arms, panic written all over her face. There was something darker beneath it all, though. It was hard to miss.
Keito Nakamura:
"Ms. Ariston, you have to understand, this wasn't meant to happen! It was him I was after."Keito vaguely gestured in my direction.
Cathy tried to bend down to touch the ground—she couldn't. It was as if it rejected her entirely, repelling her.
James Karawei:
"Cathy... Are you...?"I trailed off, my thoughts racing. If she got this from that strange vial, could I unlock something similar? Could this truly be real? The more I thought about it, the more I understood this was not some illusion—it was real, and it was only just beginning.
Cathy, growing more desperate, tried to touch the ground again. She smashed her fists down, again and again. The sound of her struggle filled the air—grunts, the wooshing of displaced air, and her faint, glowing aura surrounding her.
Cathy Ariston:
"You killed me... You—YOU DESTROYED MY LIFE! I'LL NEVER TOUCH ANYTHING EVER AGAIN! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO EAT AND DRINK?!"Keito Nakamura:
"Now, now, let's not get too hasty... If you learn to control yourself, you can still grab things with the power of gravity! And I didn't even do anything after all, you tackled me!"Her fury reached its peak. She charged at
Keito with renewed rage, floating across the ground. She tackled him once more, relentlessly 'punching' him with her fists. The pressure from her attacks pushed
Keito deep into the ground, causing bubbles to explode in the air.
Cathy was seeing red—literally.Instinctively, she raised her hands, and debris from the ground—rocks, broken bricks, and shattered metal—floated into the air. Even the bubble prison
Jasmine was trapped in began to levitate.
James Karawei:
"Cathy! Calm down! This isn't you—"I ran around, trying to dodge the whirlwind of debris and bubbles.
Keito encased himself in 'bubble armor' while making a bubble sword to deflect the incoming projectiles. The bubbles burst on contact, only for him to create more—but this wasn't the time for analysis. It was do or die.
Cathy slammed her fist down on
Keito's torso. The debris followed, smashing into him, and he was quickly overwhelmed. The boulders that had once been small rocks now came hurtling toward him. There was no mercy in her eyes.
Keito Nakamura:
"I'm sorry... Please... Forgive me—"Flashback to 1 year ago, Daiko City, State of Hana, Land of KachojimaIt was supposed to be the happiest day of his life.
Keito Nakamura stood in front of a mirror, adjusting his bowtie and suit. Today was his wedding day—the day he was to marry the love of his life,
Amy. He couldn't stop smiling as he looked at himself, his heart swelling with joy. He had come a long way since his humble beginnings as a tailor. He opened the chapel doors, stepping into the aisle, flowers in hand. The music played, and the guests stood and clapped. His heart raced.
Keito was a good man—everyone knew him as a skilled tailor, loved by those around him. But meeting Amy had awakened a new passion in him—one that drove him beyond his work. They stood before each other, exchanging vows. Everything was perfect. The priest spoke, asking the fateful question.
Priest:
"Does anyone have any objections?"A hand shot up. A man with golden hair and amber eyes—someone
Keito didn't know, but instantly recognized as powerful. His presence was imposing, and the tension in the air was palpable.
???:
"I think I could give the missus more joy in 10 minutes than you could in your whole life."The chapel went silent.
Keito, his jaw clenched, felt the surge of anger course through him.Keito Nakamura:
"You... How dare you?!"To everyone's shock,
Amy—his fiancée, the woman he loved—admitted the stranger was her lover, a dirty secret she had kept for three years. Her eyes—her glowing red eyes—told a story he didn't understand. She ran from the stage, linking arms with the stranger.
Keito stood frozen in disbelief. The stranger's eyes glowed yellow as he walked away, and
Keito's heart shattered. In that moment, a wave of destructive power surged through him. A hidden force, dormant for so long, was awakened by the overwhelming grief and anger that consumed him. His "holiness" manifested, a power tied to his emotions.A hundred massive bubbles erupted, exploding violently throughout the chapel, killing everyone in sight. The building collapsed. When the dust settled, the stranger was gone, but Amy—his love, his everything—lay lifeless at his feet.
Keito cradled her body, the weight of his actions crashing down on him. The thought that he could have done things differently—that he could've asked her for the truth, instead of letting his jealousy consume him—tore at his soul.
Keito Nakamura:
"Please... Forgive me..."As he knelt in the rubble, a red mist began to creep over the chapel, darkening the sky to a sickly crimson. The air grew thick with dread.
???:
"Ah... A seeker of love. I am not the one you were expecting, but I am the one you need."Keito, broken and crying, looked up to see a man standing before him, wearing a red business suit and a matching hat. His face was obscured by a mask. The man extended his arms, an offer too tempting for
Keito to resist.
Keito Nakamura:
"Purify...? A sinner like me? Who are you?"The stranger smiled, his voice full of amusement.
???:
"I am a man with many secrets. Surely you know the importance of secrets, don't you?"The red mist grew thicker, enveloping the chapel. In his grief and confusion,
Keito took the stranger's hand, surrendering to the darkness that promised him guidance—and a new purpose.
Keito Nakamura:
"Please... Forgive me..."The stranger bent down, kissing
Keito's forehead, and a dark power surged through him. The man's words echoed in his mind, as his eyes glowed with a new, terrifying light.
???:
"Your sins are forgiven. Now go. I will guide your passion. The heart is fragile, isn't it? Keito Nakamura."Keito let go of his wife's lifeless body. The two of them walked into the red mist, leaving behind the ruins of what had once been a chapel full of love and hope.
Flashback ends, Cathy mercilessly throwing rocks and debris at Keito with each 'punch'Cathy Ariston:
"DIE, YOU DAMN BASTARD!"I looked around, noticing that
Jack was still lying on the ground. I ran toward him, even as the air around me was filled with flying rubble and deadly bubbles. I hoisted him onto my shoulder and carried him toward the inner courtyard, where I gently set him down against a wall.
James Karawei:
"Jack! Are you okay? Man, this is too much..."I slapped him gently, trying to bring him back to his senses.
Jack Daniels:
"Wha—Oh... Hey, James, did we... die?"He asked it so casually, as if being moments from death didn't faze him. He looked down at his arm, and then back at me, forcing a confident smirk.
James Karawei:
"No, not yet... Cathy's still fighting that guy. She's gone berserk! Keito... he said something about 'Divinities'—But that's not important. Just rest here, okay? I'll try to rescue Jasmine before he takes her away."With that, I ran back to the outer schoolyard.
Keito was still fighting back against
Cathy's rampage, his body battered but not yet broken. He was muttering something about forgiveness and love, his cracked skull barely held together by a thin layer of bubble armor.I shouted to
Cathy, hoping she'd still hear me through her blind rage.
James Karawei:
"Cathy! If you're still sane, bring Jasmine down!"Her floating form snapped toward me at the sound of my voice, just as a bubble explosion sent her flying back. She waved her hand, and the rubble fell toward me. The bubble encasing
Jasmine rolled over, and I rushed toward it.
James Karawei:
"Olson! Are you okay?!"Jasmine barely mumbled something. She was alive—but just barely.I grabbed a nearby metal pipe and struck the bubble. It shattered with a loud crack, and
Jasmine collapsed to the ground, weak but alive.
Keito's scream of insanity cut through the air as he charged at us, sending spikes of bubbles in every direction. His madness was complete.
Keito Nakamura:
"I WILL REPAY MY DEBT TO LOVE! THAT GIRL IS NOW MINE!"He moved toward us, faster than I'd ever seen anyone move. Something in me—something primal—reacted. I swung the metal pipe with all my strength, hitting
Keito in the shoulder and sending him crashing to the ground. Blood splattered, and his body slumped, motionless. For a moment, I felt the weight of it all. This man... this broken soul... had been consumed by rage. And now, here I was, watching him die.I couldn't help but tear up. It wasn't right—he didn't deserve this end, even after everything he'd done.
James Karawei:
"This isn't right... Keito..."I knelt next to him, prodding him until he flipped onto his back. His skull was a grotesque mess. But somehow, he was still alive.
Keito Nakamura:
"James... listen to me... I am sorry..."Keito's voice was a quiet rasp, heavy with guilt. His eyes, once burning with mania, now held a deep, remorseful sadness. The intensity of his previous rage had drained, leaving him more vulnerable than I'd ever seen him.
James Karawei:
"It's too late for apologies, Keito. You've already made your choice. We're all suffering because of you."I took a step back, fists clenched, feeling a fire of anger still smoldering in my chest. But as I stared down at him, a strange mix of empathy and disgust swirled inside me. His regret wasn't enough to erase the pain he'd caused—but I couldn't help but feel pity.
James Karawei:
"Why did you do this? What's the deal with 'Divinity' and that red mist? Who was that man you mentioned?"Keito's breathing was shallow, his face pale, but he managed to speak more clearly now.
Keito Nakamura:
"The man... he found me when I was at my lowest... He promised me power. He said that if I embraced the pain, the grief... if I let go of my emotions, I could change everything. He told me that love was a weakness... That to control it, to overcome it, I had to become something greater."He winced as he tried to sit up, his hands trembling. I wanted to hate him, but there was something in the way he spoke—a deep sorrow that made it hard to maintain the fury.
James Karawei:
"So you took it. The power. You let it consume you."Keito Nakamura:
"I thought I could control it... I thought it would make me strong. But it... it only took more from me. More than I ever could have imagined."His words hung in the air, heavy with the weight of his own failures. I didn't know if I could ever forgive him, but his pain was real. Still, there was no turning back.
James Karawei:
"And now? Is this your redemption? Is this the price for your power?"Keito's voice was barely audible, but it cracked with emotion.
Keito Nakamura:
"No... I don't deserve redemption... but if there's a way to stop it, to stop Cathy... then maybe... maybe I can make up for it somehow..."I could feel the tension building in my chest as I looked at
Cathy. She was still hovering above us, surrounded by the chaos she'd created. Her eyes were wide, her body twitching as if struggling to control the power surging through her. I could see the pain in her expression, but it wasn't the same madness that had gripped her before.I turned back to
Keito, my anger fading into uncertainty.
James Karawei:
"Stop her... how?"Keito's head lolled to the side, and he barely managed to speak before his body betrayed him.
Keito Nakamura:
"The key... you need to find the key... It's inside her. Inside her heart..."His voice trailed off, and his body went limp, his last breath a quiet sigh. He was gone. There was no redemption for him. No way to undo the destruction he'd caused.________________________________________________________________________________
