Confusion

I woke up, got ready, and had breakfast. I checked the location of the house sent by Leonard.

I parked my car in front of the house. The security guard opened the door for me and I entered the yard. I hadn't been here in ages, but almost nothing had changed. I hadn't even reached the door when Leonard came out. He hugged me once more and led me into the house. Everyone was waiting for me in the living room. My father was talking to someone on the phone. He was happy to see me.

Are you happy to see me? Why? Didn't you leave me years ago? I couldn't understand what was happening. Maybe they were right and I didn't know much.

Leonard: "Are you okay? We were so worried about you."

Me: I'm fine. I talked to the lawyer and got everything sorted out. To tell you the truth, I'm here to talk to our father.

They were surprised when I said this. I want to find out everything. I don't know what they're hiding from me, but I'll find out anyway.

Vincent: "Do you want to talk to me?

He couldn't believe that I had come to him of my own free will and wanted to talk to him.

Me: I think we need to talk about many things. I want to talk about my mother the most.

Vincent: "Okay, let's talk."

The others left the room, leaving only us to talk quietly.

Me: Tell me about my mother. I know almost nothing about her.

Vincent: "We met by chance. I don't know much about her either, I've never met her family. We fell in love at first sight. I really loved her very much."

Does he really know nothing or is he lying to me?

Me: Did my mother like to draw?

I was trying to verify the facts I already knew. I feel like I know more about my mother than my father. How is this possible? They lived together for seven years. How can you know nothing about the person who sleeps next to you?

Vincent: "She loved drawing. She studied art at university, and that's where we met."

I think I'm wasting my time because he doesn't know anything. If he knew that Mom was Renton, he would definitely use it.

Me: What was my mother's last name?

Vincent: "Solace. Why are you asking?"

Solace? It is impossible. In the documents, my mother's last name was Cromwell. The diary says her last name is Renton. Was she hiding the truth from my father too?

Me: I didn't know, that's why I asked.

I won't say anything about this until I find out the truth.

Vincent: "Daughter..."

It was very strange to hear that from him.

Vincent: "When we met, I realized that you don't remember anything from the past. I know I didn't do the right thing when I left you with the royal family, but it was their wish and I thought you would be better off there than with me. I didn't think Michael would treat you like this because it was his desire for you to become part of the royal family."

I have no idea what he's talking about. Wasn't it his intention to leave me there?

Me: Was it Michael's wish that I stay in the palace?

Vincent: "When you first met, he immediately liked you and said you should live in a palace with him. I thought you would be treated well and have a much better life. After your mother died, I was so scared, I couldn't even think straight."

I couldn't think of anything. Hearing this left me speechless because I didn't think this was all Michael's idea. He never said anything about it. We were children and maybe they don't remember anything like I do, but the others didn't tell me anything about it either. Nothing much will change after hearing this, because no matter what, he left me. And now Michael has left me. Everyone in my life is leaving me.

Vincent: "You made us very nervous when you left the palace without warning. The royal family is on your side, but they can't do anything."

To tell you the truth, I don't care if they're on my side or not, because I know they won't do anything. I have always been alone and I still am.

Me: I know, but it doesn't matter to me because I'm not going back anyway.

I was expecting him to tell me I had to do everything I could to get back, but his answer surprised me.

Vincent: "I know I don't have the right to do this, but you can stay here if you want."

I don't want to stay here, but I'm tired of hiding. If I stay here, I can easily go wherever I want and I won't have to worry about whether anyone will follow me.

Me: I'll stay here. I still have a lot to figure out.

He didn't expect this, but he was very happy with my answer.

Vincent: "Thank you. Your room is on the second floor. We haven't changed anything, it's just as you left it."

Hasn't anything changed in my room in all this time? I made a good decision to stay because maybe being here will help me remember everything.

Me: Okay, I'll go and rest then, because I'm very tired.

I left the room. They were waiting for us in the living room to see when we would finish our conversation. I said goodbye to everyone and went up to the room. Indeed, everything was as I had left it. My toys, storybooks, and clothes were untouched. I lay down on the bed, but I couldn't rest. I felt very uncomfortable, probably because I wasn't used to being here. My phone rang again, a lot of messages came in. I immediately opened it. I was mentioned in the comments on one post many times. I already knew what was going to happen. I opened it and started reading.

"Prince Michael and his fiancée have announced their engagement date. They will be having a party tomorrow night to officially announce their engagement. The couple say the wedding will take place at the end of the month."

I knew the engagement would be so soon, but I wasn't expecting the wedding. They're in such a hurry, and there must be something behind it. Everything was ready for our engagement and wedding, but it was still a surprise.

Congratulations Michael. If you invite me to the party, I will definitely come, because I am not going to hide.

I heard some noises from downstairs, my father was very angry and arguing with someone. I immediately ran downstairs. When they saw me, everyone fell silent.

Me: What is happening?

Vincent: "Nothing. Everything is fine."

I knew they found out about the engagement and that's why they were angry.

Me: I know about the engagement. I've already been informed.

Leonard: "Don't pay attention, sister, they can say whatever they want."

Me: I don't care what they say. If we get an invitation, we should definitely go.

Vincent: "No, we won't go even if they invite us. We have nothing to do with them anymore."

I know they're worried about me, but if I don't go, they'll think they've won against me. But I'm not afraid of them.

Me: I'll be fine. If you don't come, I'll go alone.

Leonard: We'll be by your side. We won't let you go there alone.

I went back to my room and spent the whole night thinking about tomorrow's engagement. I knew they would definitely invite me, because the journalists would write a lot of articles about it and they don't want to make another scandal. I was right. When I came down for breakfast in the morning, I found an invitation. This made me very happy, and my family members looked at me in surprise. They wondered if I was okay. They didn't know that this was part of my plan, that after their wedding everything would be over and I would be able to move on with my life in peace.

Me: Are we going to a party tonight?

Leonard: "I won't let you go alone."

Me: I know it won't be easy for you. Promise me you won't fight with Michael.

Leonard: "I promise."

Even though he promised me he wouldn't fight, I have to pay attention to him in the evening because I don't know what will happen. I'm sure not many people are expecting to see me there. I haven't done anything to hide. Whoever needs to hide is hosting the party, so I'll definitely be there.

It was strange having breakfast with my family, but I felt comfortable. One thing I'm sure of, I have a brother who cares about me. I don't have to go alone in the evening and I'm glad that Leonard will be by my side.
