James leaned against the window frame, his gaze locked on the lush garden spread out beneath him.
The morning sun painted everything in soft gold, its rays glinting off the tiny droplets of dew scattered across the grass.
The garden looked like something out of a dream, its vivid colours glowing under the sunlight. But James wasn't admiring the scenery.
His attention was fixed on the two figures sparring down below.
Kaela, his gorgeous older sister, was moving with the fierce precision of a seasoned warrior, her silver rapier slicing through the air with sharp, calculated movements.
She was fighting Master Yevan, the head of the family guards and also the combat instructor, a prodigy whose grace and calm demeanour hid the explosive strength behind each of his counterattacks.
The sound of their weapons clashing echoed faintly, a rhythmic beat of determination and skill that pierced the morning air.
James watched them with a mixture of awe and envy. Kaela's movements were so fluid, and Yevan's counters looked almost effortless, as though they were both dancing rather than fighting.
Their moves contained endless experience and profound secrets, it felt enlightening to simply watch them battle.
James watched them with a mix of admiration and quiet determination. "When will I be like that?" he muttered under his breath.
The fire to grow stronger burned within him, but he knew he needed patience. 'Give me time,' he thought with a small smirk. 'I'll be better than both of them combined.'
His goal was to become the absolute strongest in this world. Strength was everything here and he wouldn't stop until he achieved it absolutely.
It was his goal now.
Turning away from the window, his gaze landed on Martha, who was quietly slipping out of the room.
She was dressed now, her voluptuous figure back in her skimpy gown as she walked toward the door.
But James couldn't miss the blush colouring her cheeks or the way she avoided his gaze. Her fingers nervously fidgeted with the fabric of her dress, and the corners of her lips quirked upward in the faintest, shyest smile.
James smirked. He didn't need to be a mind reader to know why she was acting like that. The memory of last night was still fresh in his mind.
Last night had been… eventful, to say the least. They'd spent the entire night together, tangled in sheets and lost in their shared pleasure.
It hadn't been just once, either. They'd indulged multiple times, each moment filled with passion that left him both exhilarated and, strangely, more in tune with this world.
A part of him was beginning to notice how much he was changing in this world. He wasn't the same man he used to be.
Back on Earth, he would've been too awkward, too hesitant to even entertain the idea of something like this happening.
But here, in this strange new reality, he was beginning to discover sides of himself he hadn't known existed.
Confidence, ambition, a willingness to take what he wanted—qualities that made him wonder if he wasn't just becoming stronger but also something darker.
Slowly, he was discovering things about himself—things that hinted at a darker, more calculating side.
The kind of side that villains were made of. The thought didn't bother him, though. If anything, he found it amusing.
"So what if I'm the villain?" he muttered with a grin. "As long as I get what I want. Maybe this world needs one. And if it doesn't, I don't mind being the guy to fit the role."
He straightened his shirt and was just about to head out to the library, intent on learning more about the intricacies of this world, when suddenly, a familiar chime echoed in his mind.
[Ding! Sidequest completed: Sleep with a willing participant.]
James froze mid step, blinking in surprise. His system, which had been mostly silent for the past day, was suddenly back in action.
[Initializing Clue System...]
His eyebrows shot up. Clue system? This was new. Before he could even start piecing it together, the next notification popped up.
[Ding! Received 1 Clue Token.]
[Does host wish to activate the Regional Multiplier Bonus?]
"What the hell is a Regional Multiplier Bonus?" James muttered, tilting his head. The system had always been cryptic, but this was on another level.
Still, curiosity itched at the back of his mind. He had no idea what was about to happen, but there was only one way to find out.
"Yes," he said decisively.
[Ding! Regional Multiplier Bonus activating...]
A strange warmth spread through him, starting from his chest and rippling outward. It wasn't unpleasant—more like a gentle hum of energy filling his veins.
[Ding! 1 Clue Token converted into 5 Clue Tokens.]
James's eyes widened. 'Wait, it multiplied? This system's either really generous or really setting me up for something.'
[Does host wish to exchange Clue Tokens for one Guidance Clue?]
He rubbed his chin, feeling a mix of intrigue and apprehension. 'Guidance, huh? Sounds like a fancy way of saying 'cryptic advice.' But... let's see what you've got, system. I'll play along for now.'
He had a hunch about what this might be, but he wasn't entirely sure. The system loved to keep him on his toes, after all. Still, the chance to confirm his suspicion was too tempting to ignore.
"Exchange the tokens," he said, his tone firm, laced with anticipation.
The system chimed one last time.
[Ding! Activating Guidance... Receiving clue...]
James held his breath, his heart thumping with anticipation as he waited for the next notification to pop up.
His fingers twitched slightly, his mind racing with possibilities. Could this clue lead him to some shocking secrets? Something life changing?
But then—nothing. No immediate message, no flashy text. Just silence.
"Seriously?" he muttered, feeling the suspense build to an almost unbearable level. "Come on, system, don't leave me hanging like this!"
