Haylie POV
I stood there, frozen in disbelief, unable to comprehend the scene unfolding before me. Was this real?
The sterile white walls, the faint hum of medical equipment, the crisp scent of antiseptic—I was in a hospital room. My gaze shifted to Liam, who stood at the bedside, holding the tiny hand of a little girl who lay motionless on the hospital bed.
My breath hitched as I took a hesitant step closer. I came to stand beside Liam, yet he didn't acknowledge me. It was then I realized: I wasn't truly here. Mia had told the truth. I was back in the real world, but I was invisible to it.
I turned my attention to Liam. The worry etched into his features was unmistakable, his shoulders tense as he listened to the doctor. My chest tightened at the sight of him like this—so different from the man I remembered.
