Lyra's POV
I turned sharply, ready to snap at whoever had the audacity to pull me back. My brows furrowed in irritation, but before I could open my mouth, Kellan pressed a finger to his lips, signaling me to stay silent.
"Kellan," I whispered harshly, yanking my arm from his hold. "What the hell—"
"Shh," he cut me off, leaning in close. His dark eyes flickered with urgency. "Selena's coming this way. And trust me, whatever she's up to... it's not good."
My breath hitched. Selena? A familiar unease settled in my chest. I glanced around, my pulse quickening. "What do you mean?" I asked, keeping my voice low but firm.
"I saw her," Kellan replied, his voice barely audible. "She was fuming, muttering to herself. I don't know what set her off, but it wasn't hard to guess she was looking for you. And knowing Selena…" He trailed off, shaking his head.
Of course. Selena never needed a reason to stir chaos, especially when it involved me.
