jin's eyes stared at the blood spurting from between Monroe's fingers as he tried in vain to stop the bleeding.
"Messing with my family, and threatening the doctor to keep little Mei sick, your miserable life barely makes up forty percent of their suffering. So, I'll have to take your money to cover the difference."
Monroe's eyes turned red with anger. Dying at the hands of a young boy was something he couldn't accept.
"Kiyaa!" A powerful scream that almost tore Jin's eardrum echoed through the entire house.
Fortunately, he had already sent the servants on leave while disguised as the chubby servant, as it wouldn't be wise to leave witnesses with the intention of committing a murder.
A blue aura surrounded Monroe's body, forming a massive sword resembling Chinese swords. The sword moved by its owner's will, cutting through the air and everything in its path. Jin ducked his head, his hair flying in the air as the sword came at him again, forcing him to maneuver.
The sword's speed increased, and suddenly he found his back against the wall, with the blue aura sword's razor-sharp blade heading straight for his chest.
At the moment the sword reached Jin's chest, just half an inch from piercing his heart, the blue aura vanished, and the sword disappeared. Jin looked up to find Monroe on the floor, now a lifeless corpse.
Jin took a deep breath and wiped the sweat from his forehead.
"That was close. In the past, I mean the future, I wouldn't have cared about such an attack, but this body is still in the Genesis rank, and it's very weak."
The original Jin was a hybrid, distinguished by his strong physique. In his previous life, he was responsible for assassination operations in the land of the Auris, allowing him to learn various growth techniques and combat skills.
Of course, any fighter can train in combat skills, whether offensive or defensive. But growth techniques that enhance a fighter's level and continue with the trainee for a long time, sometimes for life, must be suitable for the trainee's abilities. Due to the experiments the Plague conducted on his body, Jin couldn't find any growth technique compatible with his modified body.
The strong body genetically enhanced with cell regeneration abilities and his skills in illusion magic were his only weapons for survival in those harsh times. But now the situation was different; his extraordinary body was no longer his, and Auris techniques didn't suit humans.
Jin thought that even though the current era seemed peaceful, survival would always favor the strong.
"Power and money don't necessarily mean happiness, but without them, it's impossible to maintain one's happiness."
Jin realized he needed to find a way to become stronger quickly. He noticed some books hidden in the safe with the money, bringing a smile back to his face.
"I don't know anything about human combat techniques. Maybe the late Monroe has some ideas."
The once peaceful Green Hill Village was no longer so. Two days ago, news of a noble's death and his money stolen by his servant shattered the tranquility, causing widespread panic. But none more so than the doctor, who hadn't fully recovered from the shock of that day when he was visited by the white-haired butcher. Noble Monroe's death on the same night couldn't be a coincidence. Unconsciously, the doctor found himself reminiscing about that fateful afternoon.
When a young man with snow-white hair stormed into his clinic, the doctor felt danger but maintained his composure, wearing a mask of kindness and dignity, adorned with a broad smile.
"No doubt you're Lady Eirene's son. You're here to inquire about your sister's condition. I expected your visit. Please, come in."
Without warning, a dagger pierced the doctor's shoulder, and before he could scream in pain, Jin's hand clamped over his mouth. The young man raised his hair, revealing fiery eyes that sparked with anger.
"Shh, it's a poisoned dagger. If you don't want to die, start talking. Why do you keep my sister sick?"
Facing the suffocating killing intent and feeling the poison coursing through his veins, the doctor had no choice but to confess and beg for forgiveness.
"It was Noble Monroe. He forced me to do it. Believe me, I would never harm a child."
"Alright, let's see the sincerity of your apology. I heard you have a second house. Consider that compensation, but of course, after you do your job and treat my sister."
The doctor had no choice. If the villagers found out, the consequences would be dire, not to mention the poison in his veins. Without knowing the type of poison, he couldn't create the proper antidote. With a hoarse voice and sweat pouring down his face, he asked,
"And what about the antidote?"
"Don't be stupid. Until you pay your dues, you'll remain at my mercy. This will give you an extra day."
The young man pulled an elixir from his pocket and tossed it to him.
The doctor sighed in despair, his body still trembling from the terror he experienced.
'There's no doubt that maniac is the culprit. Those eyes are the eyes of a cold-blooded killer.'
"Hey, doctor, I've been looking for you."
The doctor's body shook, and his hair stood on end as he snapped back to reality. His account with the white-haired butcher was far from settled.
'I swear, every time I see him, it takes a day off my life, along with a hundred silver pieces from my pocket.'
He cursed the moment he met him.
"Hey, doctor, can you lend me a hundred silver pieces? I can't believe how expensive things are. Maybe I should find someone else to extort."
'Please, do that and spare me. He says lend me, indeed.'
The doctor pulled out the money, reluctantly, his heart aching at the loss.
"You know, Monroe forced me to keep your sister sick. I already confessed everything to you."
"And that's why you're still alive. But it seems you forgot to mention the money you took from him for it, and that will increase the compensation."
As soon as he heard the word compensation, his face turned pale. It was the same word that had bankrupted him. As Lady Eirene mentioned, his stinginess was legendary.
"Maybe I should have accepted my fate and died from the poison. That would have been easier than losing everything I own."
