A meal lasted until eight in the evening, and in the end, Ryan didn't ask anything, because Elysia didn't need sympathy or comfort from anyone.
She just wanted to enjoy the moment, remain true to herself, and keep her eyes fixed on the TV without blinking. The program was broadcasting an exclusive interview with Eden, and she sipped her tea, taking small sips.
This calmness was something even Ryan had to give a thumbs up for. If it were him, with the possibility of becoming one of those monsters, he would probably have already been racking his brain for ways to save himself.
Elysia was completely composed. Why should I be in a hurry? Although her fate seemed almost unsolvable, isn't my destiny about solving the impossible?
Ryan also picked up his cup of tea and took a sip to calm his mind. He then looked around.
Sakura and Vil-V had gone to wash the dishes. Both were wearing aprons and chatting and laughing. Vil-V found washing by hand too troublesome and decided to develop a portable dishwasher when she got back.
Mobius was lying slanted on the sofa, covering her face with her hand. Her chest rose and fell gently as she had somehow fallen asleep.
"I heard from Klein that it seems she hasn't slept for five or six days, and she's been using the fusion warrior's body to train crazily, huh? Plus, her sleeping posture is really terrible."
Mobius was not calm even in her sleep. She flipped over from time to time, occasionally spreading her long black stockings legs apart, revealing the pitch-black abyss beneath her skirt. Even her gaze could devour you.
At that moment, she had a beige coat draped over her legs because Ryan had been so absorbed in his exploration of light and darkness that Sakura noticed and quietly came over to cover her.
Ryan turned his head to look at the kitchen. The two girls washing the dishes were also quite beautiful.
Vil-V wore knee-high boots and stuck her rear out while fiddling with the table. Sakura wore mismatched over-the-knee socks, and her pink hair swayed as she tossed her ponytail.
Elysia had taken off her shoes and was hugging her knees, her pale and crystalline toes exposed. Even on the TV screen, the elegant girl with wine-red hair was still eye-catching.
It seemed impolite to look anywhere.
Ryan sighed and lowered his head to drink his tea. At this moment, Sakura and Vil-V had finished washing the dishes and came out. Sakura cut a few apple slices and placed them on the table. Elysia, as if she had a radar, kept her eyes on the TV screen, while her hand had already slipped an apple slice into her mouth.
Vil-V stood on tiptoe and walked over to Mobius, curiously looking at her, and slowly stretched out her hand to poke Mobius' face.
"If you don't want to end up on the operating table, don't bother her."
"Is she really that scary?"
Ryan straightened his face seriously. "Klein once woke Mobius up, and she passed out right there. When she woke up, she was already on the operating table. From what she said, Mobius has a habit of sleepwalking."
Sleepwalking is understandable, but sleepwalking and having surgery are a lie, right?
Sakura and Vil-V exchanged glances and immediately moved away from the sofa, sitting on the floor.
The modular round table, after dinner, had shrunk by almost half, turning into a small coffee table. The four of them knelt around it, eating apples and chatting casually.
"Eden is so elegant. I've seen that gemstone on her chest before; it looks like it's worth 20 million euros," Sakura casually said.
"Where did you see it?"
"At a target's house in the Cocoon group, one of the richest businessmen in Australia. Vil-V, why do I feel like your gaze is a bit dangerous?"
"Cough, cough, I'm a thief, I wouldn't steal from someone as good as Miss Eden." Vil-V took a sip of tea to cover up her desire. Actually, she was different from Mobius.
Mobius was poor and greedy, but Vil-V thought being rich and having good equipment was nice. If she was too poor, she could always go back and be a trash picker. She was someone who just adapted to the situation.
"Aren't you a magician? When did you switch careers to become a thief?"
"Hmph, being a thief is also a form of magic. I've done it in Sundown Alley before." Vil-V puffed out her chest, looking smug.
"Stop making excuses. By the way, I actually have something to ask you," Ryan sat up a bit straighter, seamlessly transitioning into work mode. "Tell me about the intelligence on Sundown Alley, and make sure to be detailed."
"Let me think for a moment." Vil-V rested her hand on her lips and tilted her head, thinking for a while. "That place has been poor for a long time, and it's very chaotic. People would suddenly get sick, and in the end, both the government and the police left. Then, some people who couldn't stay outside squeezed in."
It sounded like a deserted area from peaceful times.
Ryan had a rough idea now. He instinctively reached for an apple, but found that it was empty. He then looked back at Elysia, who was still staring at the TV, her cheeks puffed out as she chewed. He quietly put his hand back on his lap.
"It must be that the area was long-term exposed to high levels of decay energy, which is why you grew into this freak—uh, genius."
"Right? I told you Sundown Alley is a good place. It's full of talents, and they speak so nicely."
"I've always said Sundown Alley is a blessed place with talented people." Ryan chuckled dryly and turned his head to look at the girl who was cutting apples. "Sakura, did you find any results on the stuff I asked you to look into?"
"Dr. Mei didn't find many clues. There are very few mentions of Sundown Alley in the Fire Moth database. Only the intelligence department has a C-level surveillance mission, but Dr. Mei is still digging deeper." Sakura answered lightly, cutting the apple into three parts and directly handing it to Ryan.
"This doesn't seem normal. I suspect Sundown Alley was one of the earliest human experimental sites. But the anomalies were naturally formed. Before the Herrscher appeared, ordinary people didn't know what that strange disease was, but the Fire Moth group, or its predecessor, definitely knew."
They knew the truth but ignored it, much like breeding insects. For some reason, they didn't dive deeper into the research.
Ryan had a rough guess now. The current Sundown Alley was in a deserted area, making it harder to approach. He had always been puzzled.
Why, on the original timeline, did the Fire Moth send Sakura, who had already become a fusion warrior, and also assign her with a devastatingly powerful weapon? It was like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Even though Sakura was still not in her full form, she was more than enough to wipe out an entire city.
The room became quiet. Everyone tacitly did not disturb Ryan while he was thinking, with only the sound of the interview playing on the TV.
"The danger is there, but the main danger is in that sanatorium, specifically Kalpas and Aponia."
"But now the Herrscher is still hidden. They may be involved too. If they're not stupid, they'll keep infiltrating Fire Moth and find out where I am. It's best to hide like in Scandinavia, staying in the dark."
Ryan rubbed his forehead. He had always cooperated while remaining cautious.
Either he would go quickly and return quickly, or he would make a detour.
"I'll go to Sundown Alley soon."
"What's there to go to that place for? No, do you want me to be your guide?" Vil-V's tone became excited. This was a "homecoming" opportunity.
"I'm going there for business, not for a trip. Why are you getting so excited?" Ryan lightly tapped her on the head, looking at the few people in front of him, and quickly came up with a plan.
"Sundown Alley has an important target. I need to go there in person. But before that, I have to make a detour to shake off Fire Moth's surveillance."
"Are you worried they'll play dirty tricks?" Sakura immediately understood. Some people, for their own interests, would even dare to touch Dr. Mei.
"Always better to be prepared. The Herrscher is getting smarter and smarter. Who knows what kind of surprises they have for me. The higher-ups probably don't know I can move across long distances."
"What if they know?"
"Then they can't stay." Ryan's face remained expressionless, but there was a chilling coldness that seemed to go straight to the bone.
Not many people knew his true capabilities. Mobius certainly wouldn't betray him. On the enemy's side, only the Herrscher of Ice knew about his wind powers.
If they could catch on to this, it meant the fish was already hooked. He had to kill it before it could go further.
The people in the room weren't fools. They knew that Ryan was planning to use himself as bait to probe Fire Moth's reaction.
"That distance needs to be far enough. If you disappear, and they search the surrounding areas..."
"Then it proves they're still clean. Mei small actions can't be hidden from the intelligence department. But if they can quickly lock onto Sundown Alley on the other side of the Earth, it means they have another intelligence source."
"Direct contact with the Herrscher?" Sakura's pupils contracted slightly. Having fought alongside Ryan many times, she had long since forgotten the word "impossible."
"Yes, this breaks the bottom line and is enough to make Mei make up her mind."
Ryan showed a fisherman's smile, secretly hoping for a smooth transition, minimizing losses as much as possible, and ideally eliminating the traitors while keeping the organization intact.
"Fishing operation?" Elysia suddenly interrupted, and everyone realized the interview had already finished.
"Yes, the first step is to cover my tracks. Choose a place far away from Sundown Alley so the higher-ups can determine my location first."
"How about taking a trip? Like to Hawaii? It's far enough from Sundown Alley."
"Are you trying to have fun, or are you helping me think of a plan?"
Ryan felt a headache seeing Elysia's sparkling eyes. He hurriedly said, "I'll take care of it. You all come over for meals in the next few days to keep them distracted, then I'll take a well-deserved vacation."
"Alright, no, I mean, I'll definitely follow the arrangement!" Elysia knelt on the floor, playfully saluting in a military manner.
"But you all buy the ingredients. I'm only responsible for cooking." Ryan emphasized.
"Alright, but dear Mobius can't buy cheap rice anymore ♪"
Everyone burst out laughing, causing Mobius on the sofa to furrow her brow slightly.
She twisted a few times like a snake before flipping over and going back to sleep.
"It's getting late, we should head back. Elysia, you should practice hard tonight so you can help tomorrow." Elysia said, then hugged Sakura. "So, Sakura, supervise me. I'll sleep at your place tonight."
"Damn girl leader, you just want a midnight snack, right?"
Ryan almost laughed, knowing that Sakura couldn't resist Elysia's soft nagging. He told the girls not to help with cleaning, as he would do it himself later.
After sending the three out, Ryan turned around and looked at the table full of fruit peels. He let out a long sigh.
Thanks to Fire Moth, the group had gathered together. It had been a long time since things had been so lively, and he had even gotten a stove and modular furniture from Vil-V without paying.
Feeling quite happy, Ryan picked up the broom and started to clean up. Just as he entered the living room, he paused, snapped out of his thoughts about Sundown Alley, and slowly turned his head.
Wait, how come there's one person still left behind?
