Chapter 209: You're Going to Make Me Angry!

Without making a call, suddenly someone was sent to deliver orders. The meaning was very clear:

The rules of the Fire Moth cannot control you, but they can manipulate others. For example, sending Hua out on a mission is perfectly reasonable, lawful, and unassailable.

"But just like Lieutenant Rose, no one can predict how dangerous a normal mission can be. This is the power of authority," he thought.

He knew Hua wouldn't be in any danger. Those people hadn't gone mad enough to force him into a betrayal, it was simply a display of power, a warning.

Ryan smiled again. Power comes from rules, and the other party's use of them was very rational, considering all aspects and maintaining the right balance.

"But who gave you the illusion that I'm ready to follow the rules?"

Ryan stretched lazily. The premise of power games didn't even exist for him. From the start, he hadn't planned to play such a game, just as he didn't care for any position, which represented absolute freedom.

After resting for so long, it was time to go to Sunset Street and clear some hidden dangers.

The festival had ended, and the crowd was dispersing. The commercial street on the mountainside was about to see a business peak again. Ryan glanced at the helicopter flying overhead, then mingled in the crowd and left. This time, he didn't go to find those poor shop owners for supplies.

He passed through the crowd and found the blonde youth who was still chatting. The youth was typing frantically on his phone, clearly chatting with many people at once. When Ryan got closer, he finally looked up.

"Are you ready to leave?"

"Yeah, it's a bit of a letdown. They're overthinking things."

"Big shots are always like this. But don't worry, it's just an attitude. They haven't lost their minds yet." Coleman put away his phone, licked his lips. "Are you going back home to wait? If you're bored, you can come find me. It's inconvenient with that girl around."

He smiled lecherously, hiding his unease well.

"Forget it. Hua won't be back for at least five or six days from this mission. By the way, aren't you going?"

"An emperor-class Honkai Beast, that's all. A second team led by a lieutenant is enough," Coleman chuckled dryly, then asked, "Are you leaving Neon?"

"Yeah, I have to check something on the peninsula, and it's close enough," Ryan paused and looked at him meaningfully. "Have you heard of 'The Paradise'? I'm going to take care of those scum there."

The peninsula had already been compressed south, and the situation was even more critical than Neon. They were planning to draw lots and evacuate the lucky ones to China.

Coleman reviewed the information in his head. He knew of 'The Paradise' and licked his lips again. "I've heard of it. Those people are indeed scum, but I hope you follow the proper procedures."

"I'll try. Also, do me a small favor and report this to higher-ups. I might be gone for a while. If they're smart, they'll keep it confidential. I don't want to harm too many people."

The members of 'The Paradise' were big shots. He couldn't investigate them openly.

It was a reasonable response to the Fire Moth warning, but Coleman still felt uneasy. He looked at those gray eyes and nodded slightly.

"No problem, it's within my authority."

"Thanks." Ryan turned and walked away.

"Wait a second." Coleman quickly called out, his face full of suspicion, looking at Ryan. "Are you really planning to go to the peninsula? When did you become so easy to talk to?"

"Although the motivation is unpleasant, it's still reasonable and lawful. I've always preferred to persuade with reason," Ryan said with a smile, gently nodding his head before disappearing into the crowd.

"Hey, they won't drop their guard. Don't do anything stupid!"

"Alright, alright, please don't make me work overtime," Ryan called back, his voice fading as he disappeared.

Coleman stood there stunned, sighed deeply.

He still felt uneasy but couldn't do anything about it. He pulled out his phone and dialed a number.

"Hello, latest update. He's heading to the peninsula, yes, yes, checking something. He didn't say what, but it should be reliable. Watch the flight information and have someone take over surveillance."

After hanging up, Coleman lit a cigarette, took a long drag, and threw it on the ground, crushing it with his shoe.

"Notify all team members. We're heading to the 'Palace' for security duties. Find a few more people to keep an eye on Himeko and Edwin."

"Captain, is there going to be a battle?" A subordinate's voice became tense. This sounded like something big was about to happen.

"I don't know." Coleman glanced at the direction where Ryan had gone. He understood Ryan didn't have any thoughts of betrayal, otherwise, he wouldn't have wasted time talking to him. But with this level of alertness, what could he do?

"I really don't know."

The sound of rotor blades whirred as the dark helicopter passed overhead. Carol looked out the window, seeing the lights of the town below.

There didn't seem to be any visible problems, but this area was already on the edge of a protection zone. Those towns didn't have many civilians left; all the buildings were fortified.

Unfortunately, the Honkai Beasts were just too strong, especially the larger ones. Buildings made of reinforced concrete were like tofu to them. Aside from heavy firepower, there was really no way to deal with them. Thankfully, humanity now had fusion warriors capable of precision extermination.

Hope the battle goes smoothly.

Carol prayed for a moment before turning to the cabin. Her friend was still in that ethereal long dress, wearing a faint smile.

Since there were only the two of them in the cabin, Carol let her guard down, quickly moving over to Hua, nudging her with her elbow.

"Still looking pretty, look at you."

"No way, I'm thinking about the battle plan," Hua shot her a glance. Carol's face practically screamed 'gossip'.

As the same age and best friends, also her only confidante, Hua had always been grateful for Carol. Even more so for the rescue from the ocean by Ryan.

With this girl around, her once rigid personality had become much livelier.

"Hurry up and tell me, come on, come on." Carol was good at reading people's faces and immediately grabbed Hua hand, shaking it back and forth.

"Go away, why are you so interested?"

"You're my best friend, of course I care about your love life, especially with so many competitors. You've sparked my competitive spirit. With me as your strategist, you're sure to win."

"You've never even been in a relationship, what kind of strategist are you? Oh wait, I guess neither of us has any experience."

Hua suddenly noticed a flaw. The high-level matchup she had imagined was actually just a chicken-eating chicken game. Take Mobius, for example, if she had been more straightforward, she would have been out of the picture by now.

This dress was also picked by Carol, and it seemed to have played a significant role...

She bit her lip and, amidst her best friend's constant questioning, opened her mouth. "Alright, alright, I'll tell you, is that enough?"

"Remember, no detail is too small. I'll analyze it thoroughly for you."

"Why are you more excited than me? Fine, here you go." Hua smiled faintly and started narrating everything about the date. It felt like a battle summary after the Fire Moth incident—dry and lifeless.

She began by talking about when they left, what they ate, how many games they played, and emphasized how fun the magic wand was, which made Carol scratch her head.

"Who wants to hear about that? You had a hundred chances and didn't seize any. Forget it, just get to the point."

"You said no detail is too small."

"That doesn't mean you have to talk about every dart throw! And what's up with the magic wand? Why didn't you ask your senior to play with you, making a ❤ shape with sparks to create a romantic atmosphere?"

Hua opened her mouth in shock, not expecting that kind of game.

"Alright, I'll get to the point, we were watching the festival dance on the mountaintop..."

She started talking about the conversation with Ryan, which made Carol cross her fingers and her eyes sparkle, as if watching a hero bond with a girl, occasionally mocking Ryan as a fool.

At times like this, why talk about ideals with a girl? And why use the word "you guys"? Fortunately, Hua was dense enough, otherwise, the mood would have been ruined.

But "I'll wait a thousand years, ten thousand years," what a romantic vow. Even in romance novels, it's something they can only say, not do.

But she knew Hua could do it. Fusion warriors almost had infinite lifespans, and her rigid friend could really wait for ten thousand years.

Carol imagined their reunion after tens of thousands of years, feeling a shiver run down her spine. As she listened, she suddenly blinked.

"Is that it?"

"Yeah, that's it. After that, the Fire Moth people showed up."

"Just a hug? And you didn't even hug him, just stood there like a wooden pole?"

"Uh, it's been years since I was hugged by my senior, I was too nervous to move."

They stared at each other, blinking. Carol suddenly covered her face, leaning against the seat and slowly kneeling down.

"What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" Hua immediately became worried. They were almost at the empty seat city, so why was Carol suddenly sick?

"It's nothing, I just want to vomit blood. Such a good opportunity, I really want to crash this plane and jump out."

Any normal man would think they had offended her. If it were me, I would have hugged him right there, gazing into his eyes, and you think I need to teach the rest?

Carol could only feel a mouthful of blood stuck in her throat, thinking that calling Hua a fool wasn't enough to describe her. What was she doing just standing there? I can even imagine how nervous she must have looked.

"I was wrong before, Hua, you are not stupid, you are just a wooden pole, a stupid wooden pole!"

Hua looked confused, as if she had done something wrong, making Carol so angry she wished she could go up herself. She tilted her head and thought for a while.

"Maybe I didn't do it right, but why are you cursing me?"

Is this the point?

Carol stared at her in disbelief and then turned to knock on the cockpit's partition.

"Open the hatch, I want to parachute down!"
