Chapter 227: Damn Monster!!

I hope Hua doesn't bully Mobius too badly, otherwise I'll have to clean up the mess, which will be really troublesome.

Ryan walked along the Molten Avenue of Sundown Alley, but his mind was occupied with thoughts about things far away. As for why it wasn't Mobius bullying Hua, the reason was simple.

She's naturally a bit sinister. Mobius is certainly scary, but if she can't use her experiments to scare people, she's like a tiger without claws—there's no real threat.

As a scientist, she despises brute force. What others fear is her operating table, but with Ryan backing her up, Mobius definitely wouldn't dare to tie Hua up for dissection.

A paper tiger at the bottom of the food chain. Really, what a pity.

'Mr. Adam seems to be in a good mood?'

Pardofelis, holding the books she just bought, felt a pleasant aura in the air. She didn't know where this joy was coming from, but what was even stranger were the reactions of the people around her.

Thugs avoided them, casting malicious looks, but none dared to block their path.

Huh, why are these people suddenly behaving so docile? And what's with the body bags on the pickup trucks? Was the firefight last night really that intense?

She became puzzled again, walking absentmindedly as she followed Ryan into the café from yesterday. When the bell rang, the murmurs of business discussions around the room instantly stopped, and everyone turned to look at the door.

Pardofelis, holding her books, looked harmless. Ryan, with his impassive face, had very distinguishable white hair and red eyes. For a moment, countless people's pupils constricted.

Crash—

Whether it was intelligence brokers, kidnappers, or thieves, everyone stood up in unison and quickly left through the side door, as if afraid of being left behind.

"What's going on with them?" Pardofelis scratched her head. She usually avoided some of the big shots in there. "I have this weird feeling, like they're scared of me."

They're scared of me.

Ryan corrected her internally. After all, she had killed over a hundred people last night, earning a notorious reputation. While fierce people are scary, someone who kills a hundred people with a blank face and then casually strolls through the street is even scarier, because you can't tell if they're real or not. Who knows when their knife might land on your head?

This is what's called, the fierce are afraid of the insane.

But Ryan didn't explain. He just shook his head lightly. "Maybe they're just busy. Let's sit back at our original spot. Open the book, and let's start with a type of writing."

"You sound like you know many languages."

"Except for the more obscure ones, I'm fluent in all the languages in this world."

"You're bragging~"

Ryan ordered a cup of coffee and became the Master at the street-facing table. The café used to charge by headcount, but the well-informed owner not only broke the rules but quietly left through the back door.

Pardofelis, apart from yawning continuously, soon became sleepy. But she studied seriously, and her progress was decent. Ryan also started to feel the familiar sensation of teaching.

He remembered when he was teaching Hua martial arts; she was very earnest. Oh, forget about Kevin, that academic underachiever, even copying my answer sheet, he got everything wrong.

Ryan had plenty of teaching experience, occasionally holding the girl's hand to correct her.

"Be careful with grammar mistakes. The alphabet is the simplest way to write, just be patient. If I were teaching you Chinese characters, that would be much harder."

"Those square ones? Just hearing about them makes me sleepy."

"Learning more things can't hurt. If one day you go to a warehouse to restock, you'll need to be able to read the labels and know what to grab."

"Now that you mention it, I feel more motivated!"

The early autumn sunlight of September shone through the window, illuminating the two of them. It seemed to separate them from the chaotic and savage Sundown Alley. Pardofelis was focused, and Ryan appeared gentle, making this moment of "peace" seem out of place in this environment.

However, the street was already quiet, and no one was appreciating this peaceful scene. The white-haired "girl" was being closely watched, mostly by snipers aiming through their scopes.

At least thirty guns were trained on my head, and among them were anti-tank rocket launchers. I'd love to crush all these bugs.

Ryan multitasked, correcting Pardofelis spelling while sensing the threats around them. But he did nothing. Even if Sundown Alley called in N1 explosive shells, they likely wouldn't break through the power defense.

Unaware, relaxed, they passed the time in stark contrast to the mental states of those monitoring them, leaving the observers utterly confused.

They brought in high-powered telescopes and the most experienced lip-reading experts. After repeated confirmation, they finally concluded:

There was no hidden conspiracy, no secret intelligence exchange. They were genuinely studying. Right there, on Sundown Alley, under the aim of rifles, they were studying. This defied all common sense.

It was just too arrogant. Was this a mockery of Sundown Alley?

Anger aside, no gang dared to issue a shoot order. After all, too many big shots had died last night. Their territories still hadn't been fully processed. Who would want to be the next?

"Pardo, do you think the people on Sundown Alley are a little cowardly?"

"Huh? Why are you suddenly asking this? No way, here, only the ones who are tougher than others can survive." Pardo stretched lazily, shaking the empty water bottle on the table, muttering, "What's going on with this black shop? There isn't even a server. The streets are so empty. It feels like something's off."

"Maybe they were touched by your studious spirit. They've all gone home to read and study, finally realizing that fighting and killing have no future."

"Heh, you're joking now."

"You're not afraid of me, so consider it a reward for studying seriously."

"I like this reward." Pardo yawned and suddenly realized she hadn't napped today, so she definitely couldn't go out to restock at night.

But, well, peaceful days are the best.

As she stretched her neck, her eyes suddenly widened. She saw a convoy approaching from the distance, with two pickups leading the way. The cargo hold was armed with heavy machine guns, and several black sedans followed behind.

Their car doors were painted with black blood drops. Pardo trembled and stood up instinctively.

"Eh, it's the Black Blood Gang."

The cars stopped outside the café, and one by one, huge men got out, looking very intimidating. They opened the car doors, and from the sedan stepped a man in a black top hat and black coat, looking somewhat like a member of the mafia.

A sharp face, hooked nose, and gray-brown eyes that appeared calm. He held a metal cane, exuding the air of a cultured gentleman.

"It's their boss, Pellegri." Pardo quickly turned her head, glancing at the empty café, momentarily confused.

Why do they seem to be here for me?

As one of the largest gangs in Sundown Alley, Pardo's main interactions with the Black Blood Gang were when she went to buy supplies from their subsidiary businesses. After realizing this, her instincts kicked in, and she immediately turned to run.

"Don't panic. They're not here for you." Ryan quickly grabbed her, looking at the girl, who seemed like a frightened kitten.

Perhaps it was the indifference in his red eyes, but Pardofelis managed to calm down a bit. "Then who are they here for? It's just the two of us here."

"Me." Ryan smiled slightly, watching Pardofelis freeze like a statue, her expression filled with worry.

Ding-a-ling.

The doorbell rang as the gentleman with the cane entered. By now, it was too late to run, so Pardofelis had no choice but to sit down, bowing her head, constantly muttering in her mind.

"Don't see me. Don't see me. Don't see me..."

"Good afternoon, two beautiful ladies, especially you, Pardofelis. I've tried twice to meet the person behind you, but he didn't give me face. Now, I get a surprise instead." The man walked up to the table, took off his top hat, placed it over his chest, and slightly bowed.

"Ah, good afternoon, Boss Pellegri." Pardofelis, realizing she couldn't avoid it, forced a stiff smile. This small expression was immediately caught by the man.

Is she afraid of me?

As one of the big shots of Sundown Alley, it was normal for people to be afraid of him, but he only brought two bodyguards inside, showing that his posture was relatively low. With such a monster behind him, why would he be scared?

This is interesting. Does he really not know anything?

'The old fox has met a kitten. He can see right through what she's thinking, but for someone like him, knowing or not doesn't matter. Pardo will never be safe.'

Ryan, also an old fox, caught the information in the man's gray-brown eyes, lightly tapping on the table.

"You're wasting your time looking for her. Whatever you want to say, say it to me. And by the way, I'm a man."

Pellegri visibly froze, carefully sizing Ryan up. His eyes could not see through the optical camouflage, but he gently bowed again.

"Ah, my apologies, how rude of me."

The outer members didn't count, and they didn't even know Adam's gender. Ryan thought they were about to formally meet, but they wasted his entire day.

Ryan lost interest immediately, propping up his chin. "If you have something to say, just say it. I'm on a time crunch."

"You dare refuse my face, huh?"

One of Pellegri's bodyguards immediately roared, angry for his boss's humiliation, but before he could finish his sentence—

Bang!

He was sent flying, his head embedded into the ceiling, leaving only his half-body swaying like a swing.

The other bodyguard, frozen with his gun drawn, stood still. Pardo's mouth hung open, not understanding how the large man, at least 200 pounds, was sent flying in place, while Pellegri's eye twitched.

Because Adam still had his chin propped up, his red eyes reflecting his own face, doing nothing, as if the air itself had sent his subordinate flying.

"This routine is outdated, Pellegri. Trusted subordinates are not expendable material to waste."

Ryan spoke slowly, the tone of Mobius' voice casually flowing from him.

Such mockery was enough to enrage anyone, but Pellegri merely clenched the corner of his coat. He understood that if he didn't respond well, everyone on this street would die.

This big shot felt like an elementary school student.

Pardo witnessed a rare scene. A big shot with thousands of subordinates and various heavy weapons no longer had his previous casual elegance. He sat up straight, hands on his knees, staring straight ahead.

"I've been entrusted to ask if you need help with anything. All the gangs on Sundown Alley are willing to provide assistance, whether it's finding someone or killing someone."

"Who entrusted you?"

Pellegri swallowed his saliva and answered honestly, "Dusk."

Finally, that name again. I knew he couldn't hold back.

Ryan smiled faintly, thinking about it. A powerful "fusion warrior" running amok in Sundown Alley, it's no wonder there's been some preparation.

Now the question is, what is the relationship between Dusk and the Fire Moth? Does Dusk recognize Adam? Have they made preparations in advance for his arrival?

Ryan didn't answer. He slowly stood up and patted the big shot on the shoulder.

"If you're curious, let him come see me personally. Let's go, Pardo."

"Oh." The girl glanced at Pellegri and mechanically walked past him.

As their footsteps faded, the sound of the doorbell ringing echoed, and this big shot, with billions of dollars in assets, let out a deep sigh.

He touched his collar, which was already soaked through.

"Damn monster, this is no longer human."
