Felix sat on the rooftop of an old building, his usual spot when he needed to clear his mind. His best friend, Xuan, leaned against the railing beside him, watching the city lights.
"You should help her."
Felix didn't respond. He flicked his lighter open and shut, staring at the flame.
"Felix, I know you're angry," Xuan continued. "But she's your sister."
Felix scoffed. "She got herself into this mess."
"And? So, you're just going to let her suffer?"
Felix clenched his jaw.
"She needs you," Xuan added. "You don't have to forgive her, but at least help her."
Felix stayed silent, but Xuan knew he was listening.
The next evening, Xu Kai arrived outside Grace's house. His expression was cold as he threw a suitcase at her feet.
"Take your things. We're done."
Grace's hands trembled as she grabbed his arm. "Xu Kai, please, don't do this."
Xu Kai yanked his arm away. "I told you before—I don't want this baby."
"But it's your child too!" Grace pleaded, tears streaming down her face.
Xu Kai sneered. "Not my problem."
Grace dropped to her knees, still holding onto his hand. "Please, don't leave us like this."
Xu Kai's face darkened. "Let go."
When she didn't, he slapped her across the face.
Grace gasped, falling to the ground.
From his bedroom window, Felix watched the entire scene unfold. His fingers tightened into fists, but he didn't move. His anger burned, but he knew better than to act recklessly.
Xu Kai turned and walked away, leaving Grace sobbing on the pavement.
Felix exhaled sharply.
He had seen enough.
It was past midnight when Felix walked into the dimly lit bar. The stench of alcohol and cigarettes filled the air, but he ignored it.
Xu Kai sat at a table with his friends, laughing as if he hadn't just abandoned his child.
Felix walked straight to him.
"Xu Kai."
Xu Kai looked up, surprised. "What do you wa—"
Before he could finish, Felix punched him hard across the face. Xu Kai fell to the ground, knocking over a bottle of beer.
Gasps filled the bar, but no one dared to intervene.
Felix grabbed Xu Kai by his collar and yanked him up.
"You think you can just walk away?" Felix growled. "You think you can hit my sister and not pay for it?"
Xu Kai struggled, but Felix punched him again—this time, harder.
"Be a man," Felix spat. "Take responsibility."
Xu Kai coughed, blood dripping from his lip. "I… I don't want a kid."
Felix slammed him against the table. "I don't care. You made a mistake, now fix it."
Xu Kai groaned, trying to push Felix away, but Felix's grip was like steel.
"Three weeks," Felix said coldly. "You have three weeks to make this right. Or I'll make your life hell."
With that, Felix let go, letting Xu Kai collapse onto the floor.
Then, he turned and walked away as if nothing had happened.
Grace sat on the couch, staring at her phone. She hadn't heard from Xu Kai since that night.
Then, suddenly, her phone rang.
Her heart skipped a beat when she saw his name on the screen.
"Xu Kai?" she answered hesitantly.
There was silence before he finally said, "I'm ready."
Grace's breath caught. "W-What?"
"I'll take responsibility," Xu Kai said. "I'll be a father to the baby."
Tears welled up in Grace's eyes. "Really?"
"Yes," he sighed.
Grace didn't know that Felix had forced him into it.
But Felix didn't need credit.
He had done what needed to be done.
And that was enough.
