A Love That Shouldn’t Be (Part 8)

Lisa didn't cry.

Not that night.

Not the next morning.

Not even when Baskhar asked her what was wrong, concern written all over his face.

She just smiled. Pretended. Lied.

But deep inside, she was breaking.

Because she had never felt so stupid.

She had given Felix her heart, and he had thrown it away like it meant nothing.

Like she meant nothing.

And maybe… maybe she really didn't.

Felix thought he would feel relieved.

He had pushed her away.

He had done the right thing.

So why did he feel like he was suffocating?

Every time he closed his eyes, he saw Lisa's face.

The hurt in her eyes.

The pain in her voice.

The way she walked away without looking back.

It was driving him insane.

And yet, his pride still kept him silent.

Still kept him from reaching out.

Because if he did… if he admitted even a fraction of what he felt…

There would be no turning back.

Lisa stopped waiting.

Stopped hoping.

If Felix wanted to pretend he didn't care, fine.

She was done chasing after someone who didn't want to be caught.

She focused on school.

She focused on herself.

And most of all, she tried to move on.

Even if her heart still ached every time she saw him.

Even if she still wanted him more than she wanted to admit.

One evening, Lisa was walking home when she saw Felix standing outside.

He wasn't waiting for her.

He wasn't even looking in her direction.

But she knew.

He was there.

She could feel it.

Something inside her snapped.

Before she could stop herself, she marched up to him.

"Do you even care?" she demanded.

Felix tensed.

Lisa's hands were shaking.

"You broke my heart, Felix. You pushed me away like I was nothing. And now you just stand here like you— like you—"

She choked on her words, anger and heartbreak mixing together.

"Say something," she pleaded.

Felix looked at her, his expression unreadable.

Lisa's breath hitched.

For a second, she thought—hoped— that he would finally say what she needed to hear.

But then he turned away.

"Go home, Lisa."

And just like that, her last bit of hope shattered.
